Buffet has a bet with Protege Partners LLC that a low cost S&P 500 index fund (by Vanguard) would beat the fund of funds investment by Protege Partners LLC in 5 years time.
Serious money is involved with each side putting up $320,000 for a total of $640,000 that were used to buy zero-coupon Treasury bonds that will be worth $1million at the end of the bet.
The money will then be donated to a charity of the winner's choice.
