Banyan Tree Holdings
Limited is an investment holding company. It works in developing and managing
hotels and spas in Singapore and abroad. It was started in 1994 and now caters
in several segments such as hotel investment, hotel management, gallery
operations, spa operations, design fees, property sales, golf course
operations, resorts, design management and many others related in hospitality
business. It is spread in more than five countries including China, Thailand,
Indonesia, Seychelles and the Maldives. As of May 2012 Banyan Tree Holdings has 30 resorts and hotels, 64 spas,
78 galleries and 3 golf courts. FY 2011 they have total revenue of S$329. 5
million. It has a net income of S$3 million.
Current Scenario: Banyan
Tree Holdings have hotels as their
primary business. Currently they are spread across 23 countries which include
China, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong,
India, Sri Lanka, Laos, Australia, Maldives, South Africa, Egypt, Mauritius,
Morocco, Bahrain, Seychelles, Ireland, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates and Guam.
The net revenue was US$287. 1 million with a total capitalization of US$145
million. Banyan Tree supports green
therefore they have developed their infrastructure accordingly and also have started
working towards influencing fellow hotels and resorts. Their aim is to make
other hotels and resorts have operations in such a way that they do not impact
the environment much.
As per the financial statement operating revenues for the
year 2011 have increased by 10.42%. It is from S$305, 303 thousand to S$337, 119
thousands. Return on equity went from 5.76% to 0.29%, the return on asset went
from 2.13% to 0.11% and the net profit margin went from 9.87% to 0.46%. These
figures are correct when compared to last year’s figures. The current ration
went from 1.82 to 1.76, when compared to the previous year.
Future Prospects: Banyan
Tree has plans for expanding their
outlets. They have a couple of big project launches planned this year in Laguna
LangCo, Vietnam. Here, they had the challenge to build roads sewage connection,
water supply, its infrastructure for the huge project. It ensures that the
R&D efforts are aligned with the other functional strategies and aims to
deliver the company goals. Banyan
Tree strives continuously to
overcome their competitors and copycats. They ensure to do something new and
good which the customers would cherish. Banyan Tree believes in corporate social
responsibility and are striving hard to spread awareness about it. It has
become a publicly traded company on Singapore stock exchange. It has
participated in several awareness programs and being a role model for several
others in the same business.
China is one such country where Banyan Tree has huge scope
of growth.

of scale but all this keeping customer satisfaction and experience in mind.
